Take Away

Take Away is a project that seeks to expose the excesses of everyday life through a focus on the plastic and paper consumption promoted by the takeaway industries.
Utilising a discarded scanner, found in the street, Danilo Zocatelli employs cameraless photography to explore the aesthetics of repurposing through the way that plastic containers are used as storage or archival container for objects in domestic spaces.
These images were printed on handmade paper that the artist created out of recycled takeaway menus from restaurants. Materials, such as medication, herbs, tea, and hair, found in the scanned objects were mixed in the paper pulp, making each sheet unique. The objects inside the containers represent the personal archive that people have at their houses when repurposing the use of the container.
The work asks the viewer to reconsider the objects with which they share space and to question the alternatives for living in a cleaner, recyclable, and more conscious way.
